Our Journey:

From its humble beginnings in Nagpur, Maharashtra, OFROT has grown into a powerhouse for social change. With 23 active district branches across the state, we have been at the forefront of advocating for tribal rights through both the High Court and the Supreme Court.

 

Landmark Achievements:

One of our proudest moments was our involvement in the historic Vijay Ghogare case in the Supreme Court, where we successfully argued for the continuation of reservation in promotions. This set a precedent and secured the rights of Scheduled Tribes in Maharashtra.

 

After the judgement of Supreme Court in FCI Vs Jagdish Bahira Case, we took on the government in a landmark petition (WP 3140 of 2018 Organisation For Rights of Tribal Vs State of Maharashtra ) at the Bombay High Court, Nagpur bench, resulting in the invalidation of appointments of impostors through fake caste certificates in the reserved category of Scheduled Tribes. This momentous victory opened doors for thousands of unemployed tribal youths to access government jobs.

 

Resisting Caste Validity Certificate in Blood Relation:

OFROT has consistently opposed the issuance of caste validity certificates in blood relation for Scheduled Tribes, a decision made by the Social Welfare Department of the Maharashtra government. We firmly believe that Scheduled Tribes should be protected against any misuse of this provision.

 

OFROT Chamber:

In May 2023, we marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the "OFROT CHAMBER" on Koradi Road, Nagpur. This facility not only serves as our office but also provides suits and rooms for our members, students, and UPSC/MPSC aspirants. Additionally, we have a conference hall for various purposes. The esteemed presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Honorable Minister, Govt of India, and Dr Vijaykumar Gavit, Minister, Tribal Department, Govt of Maharashtra, made the inauguration a momentous occasion.
